New Reading Scheme – Project X
We are in the process of buying in a new reading scheme called Project X. The books have already started to arrive and by the end of this term all of our pupils will be enjoying the range of new texts which include both fiction and nonfiction. We were able to buy this scheme by using some of our Pupil Equity Funding(PEF) and we hope that the exciting books will capture your child’s attention and increase their enjoyment of reading.
Master classes
This year as part of our School Improvement Plan we are continuing to develop pupil involvement and choice within our curriculum. The children will take part in four master classes each Tuesday afternoon starting on 26th February. All of the children will be given a choice of activities and they will go to the same master class each week. The classes include baking, science, hockey, knitting, arts and crafts. I am sure the children will enjoy the classes and the opportunity to work with pupils from other classes! If you have a talent/skill you could share with our pupils can you contact the school office and a member of the Management Team will get back to you.
School Photographs
School photographs will be taken on Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th February. Please ensure your child wears their full school uniform on both these days. A letter has already gone out with more details.
After School Clubs
This term we are offering Supported Study Clubs for numeracy for all classes. A letter will be been sent out this week with details. Our Support for Learning workers will be offering Homework clubs this term. More details will follow. Both these initiatives are funded by Pupil Equity Funding(PEF).
Fundraising during Lent
All classes will be involved in raising money for SCIAF during Lent. This will range from collecting donations in SCIAF boxes to sales of work.
Glasgow Alcohol Awareness programme P6 – 7
This month P6 and P7 will have lessons from the Glasgow Alcohol Awareness programme to raise awareness of the dangers of alcohol.
HEAD LICE
Please remember to check your child’s hair on a regular basis to ensure they have not caught head lice. This will ensure that the spread of lice to another child is minimal.
Nut allergies
As a number of pupils in our school have nut allergies I ask all parents/carers not to give your child a snack containing nuts. Thank you for your cooperation.
